Low Lake Levels & Dock Cable Lift

If your dock has a cable lift, do not let the cable completely unwind when lowering your boat as it will be challenging to get the cable wound back up properly. Just pay attention especially when local lake levels are lower than normal as they are this year. There may be times when you just can't get your boat off the lift because the bunks hit the lake bed before you get the boat deep enough into the water. That's just one problem we face when on fluctuating lakes.

Reminder: Dock Maintenance

How is your dock doing this summer? Don't forget to perform regular maintenance to keep everything in good working condition. Be sure to grease any lift parts and check fan belts for tension. Also bolts in the wood components will work loose with the movement of the water, especially if you have a floating dock attached to a stationary dock. Keep the bolts nice and tight. Regular cleaning will help extend the life of all areas. It also helps to keep ladders pulled out of the water when not in use. Happy Summer and enjoy your water activities.

This is always a sad time of year for us “lake” people. If you put your boat to bed for the winter don’t forget to winterize the motor. Check your specific manufacturer recommendations so you don’t end up with a hefty repair bill in the spring. Just remember it won’t be long 'til spring!
